Creating Payment Links

Send payment links via email/SMS

By iantroisi•Last updated: January 2025

In ServTrackr, go to the "Payments" section – it's usually located in the main navigation menu.

You'll find a button labeled "Create Payment Link" or something similar. Click this button.

Select Payment Method

A dropdown menu will appear. Choose the payment method you want to associate with the link – likely "Credit Card" or "PayPal."

Enter Payment Details

Carefully enter the required payment details (Card Number, Expiration Date, CVV) for the selected payment method. Double-check these details for accuracy!

This is where you personalize the link. You'll need to add a short, memorable message. For example: "Thank you for your payment! Invoice # [Invoice Number]"

Set the Payment Deadline

Set a deadline for payment. This helps ensure timely payments.

Click "Save" or "Generate" to create the payment link. You'll receive a unique link that you can share with your clients.

Best Practices

  • Test Thoroughly: Before sending any links, send them to yourself (or a colleague) to verify they work correctly and display the correct information.
  • Clear Instructions: Provide clear instructions to your clients on how to use the link. Include a brief explanation of the payment process.
  • Secure Links: Ensure the link is secure – ideally, use a secure link generation method.
  • Regular Review: Periodically review your payment link templates and ensure they remain up-to-date with current billing requirements.
  • Scheduled Notifications: Configure ServTrackr to send scheduled email notifications to clients when a payment link is generated. This helps prevent missed payments.

Common Issues & Troubleshooting

  • Link Not Working: The most common issue is a technical glitch. Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser's cache. If the problem persists, contact ServTrackr support.
  • Incorrect Payment Details: Double-check the payment details entered in the "Payment Details" section. A single typo can cause problems.
  • Link Expired: If a payment link expires, clients will need to re-submit their payment. Make sure to update the link immediately.
  • Client Issues: If a client has problems with the payment link, they should contact your billing department for assistance. ServTrackr provides a central point of contact.
  • Link Format: Ensure the link format is correct – it should be a URL that opens in a web browser.
