What Are Change Orders

Change orders document additional work beyond the original estimate:

  • Additional services discovered during work
  • Customer-requested upgrades or additions
  • Unexpected repairs needed
  • Material substitutions with price differences
  • Scope expansions

Creating Change Orders

Document additional work properly:

  1. Open the original estimate or project
  2. Click "Add Change Order"
  3. Describe the additional work needed
  4. Add line items for new services/products
  5. Calculate additional cost
  6. Take photos if applicable
  7. Send to customer for approval

Approval Process

Get customer approval for additional work:

  • Present change order before starting work
  • Customer can approve via mobile or email
  • Electronic signature captured
  • Work proceeds after approval
  • Track approval status in real-time
  • Keep audit trail of all change orders

Invoicing Change Orders

Bill for change order work:

  • Change orders added to final invoice
  • Original estimate amount shown separately
  • Change order amounts itemized
  • Total reflects original + change orders
  • Customer sees complete breakdown
  • Deposits apply to original estimate amount
